A Bad Roman

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve finalized an five-page essay I submitted to The Bad Roman Project for publication. I’ve enjoyed publication with them before, and I can only hope to have more.

In this five-page essay, I explore themes in Henry David Thoreau’s essay Civil Disobedience through a Gospel lens. I touch on the issue of Paul’s idea in Romans 13 as it relates to the practical applications of Jesus’ own relationship to tyranny and Thoreau’s “ideal citizen.” Though not intended to cover all of Thoreau’s ideas in his essay, it serves as the beginning of an ongoing exploration of these ideas of faith at the intersection of politics.

I hope it gets published on that site, but if not, that’s ok. You can hope to find it here someday.
